Application Spotlight: Advance Pumps Stand Up to Sea Water & Ozone

The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA is a pretty incredible organization.  Not only do they have a noble and worthy operation, but they have a state of the art facility with a skilled staff at the top of their game. We spent some time with Matt Hoard the head life support operator.  He told us during our visit at the facility that it’s one of his goals to be the most proficient, and advanced operator in the industry.

MDM Partners with Ryan Herco for the 2015 New York Chemical Show

We’ve enjoyed a productive time with our friends Ryan Herco Flow Solutions during this year’s New York Chemical show. Its been very interesting to see all of the corrosive fluid process technologies emerging in today’s world. These advances are bolstering highly efficient systems in the marketplace. Wireless technology and simulation software has become a driving force of automation that increases pump reliability and efficiency.

A Word From Our Friends at International Ozone

Our friends from International Ozone showing off a Genesys® Installation at the Ocean Institute

As an LSS “critical care” solutions provider, we take a no compromises approach to systems design, installing highest quality equipment to assure reliability, longevity and efficiency. We specified Genesys® 2x3x6 pumps into a retrofit application at the Ocean Institute, recommended by our friends at Aquatic Equipment & Design. We are very pleased with the quality and performance that the Genesys® units have provided, as well as the level of support we receive from MDM.

Our friends over at Aqua Logic prepare five Genesys® pumps for service in Baja Mexico at a yellowtail facility. For performance requiring 1000 GPM, running these pumps at 1800 RPMs with multiple units in parallel is a redundant and bulletproof configuration for an intense RAS design like this: pic Click here to visit Genesyspumps.com

Genesys® Pumps Survive the Storm

Genesys® Pumps Survive the Storm

Over the years, Genesys® pumps have garnered a reputation for reliability and durability. They were put to the ultimate test when superstorm Sandy battered the New York Aquarium.

Dennis Ethier, Director of Plant Engineering at New York Aquarium writes:

“I had 2 of the Genesys® pumps installed on the Isolation pool at the health center with animals in the pool.  They were under salt water for about 8 hours and were running when the water hit.  On Tuesday afternoon (Hurricane Sandy hit Monday night) we flushed them out with fresh water and one of the two started and ran.  It was noisy as all hell but it ran for another 5 days until we got replacement pumps in.

Genesys® are a great pump that are super quiet; we’ve been taking motor skin temperatures for the last several months as part of our daily rounds and the MDM’s run about 30F cooler than either Jacuzzi or Hayward pumps of the same H.P.”

West Coast University installs two Genesys® Pumps for a sea water intake system in Pacific Grove, CA

The head operator-engineer writes below about his experience with Genesys® pumps:

“When I first took on the project of replacing the two antiquated metallic sea water transfer pumps, it was clear that FRP pumps have become the industry standard for pumping sea water. Working off a strong recommendation from our friends over at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, I included the Genesys® pump series as a possible solution. Ultimately, we ended up awarding the pumps to MDM Inc., due to the high level of technical expertise they provided, their professional and timely responsiveness, and the lowest total cost of ownership their pump configurations provide.”

We make it priority to fully understand the performance requirements that are to be met, and to offer the best overall solution. We have a very versatile set of products and can configure to meet a wide variety of requirements. As we did here with the west coast university, MDM continues to offer the lowest total cost of ownership in pumping solutions. Don’t hesitate to contact any of us with your next project.
